During the fourth quarter of 2022, the top communication apps in Ukraine saw varying trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at the performance metrics for Telegram, My Kyivstar: mobile services, WhatsApp Messenger, Rakuten Viber Messenger, and Messenger.

Telegram from Telegram FZ-LLC displayed strong performance in both downloads and revenue. Weekly downloads ranged from approximately 150K to 284K, with a notable peak around the end of December. The app also saw a significant increase in weekly revenue, starting from around $34K in early October and reaching up to $81.7K by the last week of December. Weekly active users fluctuated slightly, maintaining a range between 13.3M and 13.6M throughout the quarter.

My Kyivstar: mobile services by Kyivstar experienced a steady growth in weekly downloads, starting from 57.4K in late September and peaking at 109.6K at the end of November. Active users showed a similar trend, with numbers ranging from around 1.17M to 1.49M, peaking in late November.

WhatsApp Messenger from WhatsApp LLC had consistent weekly download numbers, fluctuating between approximately 58K and 70K. Active users also demonstrated stability, ranging from 1.65M to 1.83M during the quarter, with a notable increase towards the end of December.

Rakuten Viber Messenger by Viber Media showed a varied performance. Weekly downloads ranged from about 59K to 95K, with a noticeable peak at the end of December. Revenue showed a modest fluctuation, peaking at $18.9K in late October. Active users saw a gradual decline from 11.1M to approximately 10.5M over the quarter.

Messenger by Meta Platforms, Inc. maintained a steady download rate, ranging between 47.7K and 66K. Revenue remained relatively low but consistent, peaking at around $168 in early November. Active users ranged from approximately 6.3M to 6.5M, with slight fluctuations throughout the quarter.
